What I Didn’t Like:
- The romance storyline was a bit of a reach. I didn’t believe the crush even when it was emphasized again and again. Unfortunately, a lot of the storyline sort of relies on the reader believing the crush is real and I just didn’t.
- This features one of those main characters who notices things WAY later than the reader does. Things would happen and I’d find myself thinking something was too obvious but the MC seemed like it was shocking information EVERY TIME.
- The food references were a bit much. At one point the main character is annoyed at her father for trying to bribe her with food … but everyone does it to everyone for the entire book. Why is this one instance bothering you? You literally do it to someone else AND adore it when a boy does the same thing. Too many food references for me.
What I Did Like:
- The legend of the dragon is well incorporated into the novel. By that I mean, it’s explained briefly but not so much as to make it cumbersome. Sometimes the world building on stories like this is TOO much. This one only gives you a little at a time when you need it.
- The ending is satisfying. Everything is wrapped up in a way that works for the story and is cute.
- Time travel is always fun. This book does a good job of considering all the consequences of their time travel and addressing some of those head on. I appreciated the time and consideration this must have taken!
Who Should Read This One:
- Fans of dragon myths, time travel, and teenage drama.
