A Horror, 2026 by Minotaur Books, 272 Pages
What I Didn’t Like:
- Starts off a little slow, especially for the genre. I felt like I was waiting for something big to happen.
- This felt less like horror, to me, and more like thriller. There’s less of the supernatural aspect than I wanted, although it is there, and the deaths are off page.
- Lots of characters to stay focused on. It jumps POV (and even timeline) more than once. You have to keep them all straight.
What I Did Like:
- The secrets are satisfying. From the solution to the minor steps along the way, something is likely to surprise you.
- The setting is intriguing. The small town feel, the abandoned movie set, lots of aspects of the setting added to the story.
- The characters have solid backstories that make them all interesting. Almost all of the characters could’ve been the main character for a slightly different story, which is a huge compliment to the character depth.
Who Should Read This One:
- Thriller fans who like a little ghost story drama in their mysteries.
