2026 Book Review: Good Half Gone

by Tarryn Fisher

A Mystery/Thriller, 2024 by Graydon House, 304 Pages

What I Didn’t Like:

  • These police officers were INFURIATING. Not only were they hard to read, it didn’t come across as realistic at all. Just frustrating.
  • Some jumps that throw you off and confuse you. The worst is probably the jump from the crime involving cannibalism straight into spaghetti for dinner. No chapter break, no warning. Just BOOM.
  • Lacking in depth and detail. From the romance that felt gross and fake from the drop, to the obvious twist I can’t believe our main character missed, to the plot holes related to her assignment, this was just lacking. I was disappointed.

What I Did Like:

  • Interesting premise. Two twins are out at the movies when one is abducted and no one believes the remaining twin? Yes, epic premise.
  • The voice is well written. The word choice works for the character we’re in the head of and you buy her authenticity. She’s a good character, for sure.
  • The dual timelines were both interesting in their own right. They bring in compelling characters and have the reader looking for the way they’ll crash together in the end.

Who Should Read This One:

  • Readers who want to try thrillers for the first time may really be the audience for this one. It’s well written and captivating with the voice and may intrigue readers new to the genre.

My Rating: 2 Stars

  • For me, someone who reads thrillers regularly, there were too many plot holes and problems.
