What I Didn’t Like:
- Slow start. The paving is uneven so some spots move quickly while others drag. It makes it difficult to get your bearings.
- I didn’t find myself connected to any of the characters, which made it very difficult to wade through.
- Some telling vs showing.
What I Did Like:
- The fight scenes are well written. They’re intense and they paint a vivid picture.
- I was intrigued by the concept of the Ambience and how it’s portrayed. That makes this a unique book.
- The love triangle worked in an interesting way. It was more realistic with the portrayal and the resolution. I appreciated that.
Who Should Read This One:
- Fans of slower high fantasy that takes its time exploring worlds and gifts.
