A Mystery/Thriller, 1986 by Mayflower Books, 101 Pages
What I Didn’t Like:
- There are things used in the solution that you were never told. A few of them I had actually notated as questions, hoping they’d be answered. They were never addressed and then they turned out to be essential to figuring out the solution. That was frustrating.
- The handwriting on at least 2 pages is impossible to read. It still provided information but not from squinting at it.
- The newspapers contained lots of unnecessary information. In a few cases I saw no reason to include them at all.
What I Did Like:
- Collecting all the facts and notating them was fun! You’re provided with a lot of things you don’t need so weeding out all of that is entertaining in itself. I’d recommend keeping a notebook or something separate from the book to avoid having to flip around as much.
- The solution makes sense and is clear. The details are provided and unarguable.
- The format is great. The letters, photos, and clippings all add to the fun of solving this one.
Who Should Read This One:
- Mystery fans who want to challenge themselves to figure out an old mystery with notes from the investigation.
My Rating: 3 Stars
- The presentation of the information and the missing facts/answers will appeal to a more niche audience.
