2024 book review: trials of the innermost

By Jonathan Fuller & Kristina Kelly

Fantasy, 2023 originally published by Hansen House

What I Didn’t Like:

  • The beginning of this story was a little difficult to get into, and slow at first. I could see some people giving up on it or thinking that it won’t pick up, I would tell those to push through because everything starts happening at a good pace once you get a little further into it.
  • I did get caught up on the characters names in the very beginning. A few of the names were to similar to each other/places and it did leave me needing to double check myself for understanding. Once I got a few chapters in this wasn’t the case anymore, but since there is so much coming at you in the beginning it can be daunting.

What I Did Like:

  • Overall a great story! Once I got into this book the story was so interesting and i was pulled into the world these authors created. It felt like everything was so well thought out and planned, it really made for enjoyable and easier understanding/reading.
  • I loved the way the authors described both the characters and the world itself. There was just enough detail to make sure I could picture it in my head while not going too far into the small things. With a fantasy book I prefer all the detail, and this one did not disappoint.

Who Should Read This One:

  • Adult fantasy readers would love this

My Rating: 4 stars
