What I Didn’t Like:

Definitely got patriarchy and misogyny vibes from this one, probably because of the mass amount of commuters ogling a woman in her own backyard in the very early chapters. Once I was alert to it, I felt like I was seeing it everywhere.
I didn’t like Devine. Since he appears to be the main character of this series, that could be a problem. I felt like he was frustrating and negative toward himself. Who knows, maybe he’ll change as the series goes on.
The ending felt a bit too convenient. All wrapped up nicely, which doesn’t seem very realistic. But it reads like a movie so that’s something.

The mystery grabs hold of you quickly and keeps your interest. There are a lot of layers here coupled with lots of unanswered questions. You get lost in the case, which is what makes this one fun.
There are a lot of clues and misdirections to keep the reader guessing. That’s always a fun way to have a mystery book progress because it keeps you in the story.
There are some hints at things/characters we could bring back later in the series. No spoilers, of course, but I’m looking forward to seeing more cases.

Mystery action movie fans. Hang on, I’m aware this isn’t a movie. But many parts of it read like those action movies with one guy against the evil corporations. If you’re a fan of those, this is your book!
