YA Fantasy, 2024 by Dutton, 334 Pages
What I Didn’t Like:
- There’s a lot left unexplained in this fantasy world. Of course, this is a first book so some of it could come later.
- Ending that will definitely make you want a second book.
- Richter. YA books have a habit of making terrible parents in charge of decisions, this book is no different.
What I Did Like:
- Excellent start! This one draws you right in and even when you think you know what’s coming next in the story it’s a fun ride to get there!
- Emmet is an AMAZING friend. I loved as he flipped back-and-forth from a sort of tough love to a partner-in-crime at the flip of a page.
- Sunder is fascinating. I would spend time there and I will definitely look for future books. It combines enough magic with reality to be excitingly plausible.
Who Should Read This One:
- Fans of magical realm stories, specifically ones where the magical world is hidden among ours.
- Readers who enjoy an unlikely hero.
