2024 Book Review: See How They Hide

by Allison Brennan

A Mystery/Thriller, 2025 by MIRA, 400 Pages

What I Didn’t Like:

  • I haven’t read the previous books featuring these main characters so I’m reading this as a stand-alone. This doesn’t affect my rating, just noting.
  • A character who has trouble showing love saying “ditto” has been done before. I like originality so that rankled. I did appreciate that it was a woman, however.
  • There’s a lot of characters in this and sometimes we will change the focus character mid chapter. It can be a bit confusing to head-jump. Worth noting if you aren’t a fan of that type of story.

What I Did Like:

  • The book starts with an interesting case, different enough from other things in the genre to keep it fresh and interesting.
  • The cast is likeable. They feel real and their interactions are well written. While I haven’t read the rest of the series featuring these characters, I can see why fans would want to!
  • You don’t have to read these in order. This one provides plenty of backstory on the characters to fill you in on anything you might not know and the case is contained to this book.

Who Should Read This One:

  • Fans of FBI stories featuring agents who work well as a team and mostly follow the rules will like this book or even this series.

My Rating: 3 Stars
