Demon of Ever-Dale by James Fuller
A Horror, Independently Published in 2020, 144 Pages
What I Didn’t Like:
- It’s weird that the titles of this series aren’t all formatted the same. Unforgivable, Part 1 followed by Unforgivable II followed by Unforgivable Book Three, Demon of Ever-Dale. It’s a little thing, but it bugged me that it wasn’t consistent.
- This book fits in between books 1 and 2, which is a bit jarring and frustrating. I couldn’t find any reason for them being out of order. Plus, it doesn’t really warn you anywhere. They’re literally numbered 1-3 so you’re not expecting them to be bringing back deceased characters out of nowhere in book 3. It throws you.
- Grammatical or typographic errors. Not many and they are easy to figure out the intended meaning.
- I didn’t like Jamus as a main character so this book was frustrating for me. I liked Sofia’s storyline in book 2. I was hoping to get more of her.
What I Did Like:
- The fight scenes are well written and descriptive. It’s easy to picture exactly what’s happening and it has a good pace.
- This does answer a lot of questions about what happened between the other two books in the series.
- Sofia is still a likable character, even when she is at her worst. I wanted more for her than this series gave her.
Who Should Read This One:
- Fans of violent revenge stories will like this trilogy, but I’d suggest reading them out of order (1, 3, and then 2) in order to end the series in the best possible way.
My Rating: 2 Stars
- The books being completely out of order with no warning was problematic for me. I had to stop 10% of the way into this one and go research to see how and why it was done this way. I never did get a satisfying answer and I wish I’d just read them in chronological order.
