2025 Book Review: Bad Vibrations

by Lucy Leitner

A Horror, 2022 by Blood Bound Books, 164 Pages

What I Didn’t Like:

  • Opening chapter introduces us to a main character who is unlikeable in every way. Essentially we’re listening to a bully who thinks she’s better than average people. Not a fun way to start.
  • The MC’s switch happens too fast. An extra pause for the reader to believe in the awakening may have been nice. As it is we already didn’t like her so this feels fake.
  • The book is a bit exaggerated and absurd. It’s intentional but it could bother some readers.

What I Did Like:

  • More humor than I was expecting. It’s a horror book but it’s laced with a sort of dry humor that works.
  • Cults and horror is a trope that works for me. It’s always terrifying to have characters that blindly follow and repeat other characters. This played on that well, turning it into an effective horror story.
  • Plenty of action scenes. As this one heats up you have all sorts of ripped-from-the-big-screen type scenes to keep you turning pages.

Who Should Read This One:

  • Fans of cult horror.

My Rating: 4 Stars
