What I Didn’t Like:
- There’s a lot of sexual references or implications about women’s bodies. Typical for a teenage male MC? Probably. Still sometimes makes you roll your eyes.
- A character death gets too little fanfare, in my opinion. There could be a reason for that, maybe, but it stings because you like them.
- Fourth wall breaks that are a bit overused.
What I Did Like:
- Opening chapter sets the MC voice well. You get a sense of who he is and get introduced to his humor right away.
- The world building is well done. You get the background without having a history lesson. It’s natural.
- The battle scenes, even the practice ones, are well written and intense.
- That closing line!
Who Should Read This One:
- Fans of superhero training type stories who want or are intrigued by the concept of villain-stereotyped characters getting their story told.
My Rating: 3 Stars
- Good opener that leaves you wanting that sequel.
