What I Didn’t Like:
- There are multiple references to a previous murder investigation this main character might have been entangled in but this is listed as being book 1 (I checked, multiple times). It felt like I was missing something.
- The ending felt a bit rushed and convenient. We built up this great list of suspects and then I felt cheated at how quickly we found the right one.
- I love a dog in a story but this one wasn’t necessary. The things she was able to do or contribute didn’t stay consistent or felt predictable. It felt gimmicky.
What I Did Like:
- The main character is relatable right away and I loved her style.
- The small town is well written and adorable. Plus, it’s pretty clearly the subject of this series so we can spend more time here in later books!
- The mystery is compelling and you get enough answers to be satisfied.
Who Should Read This One:
- Cozy mystery fans who like a small town story and a fun cast of characters.
