2025 Book Review: Run For Your Life

by C.M. Sutter

A Mystery/Thriller, Independently Published in 2022, 260 Pages

What I Didn’t Like:

  • I didn’t like Mitch when the story opened. I couldn’t even put my finger on what it was about him I didn’t like but something rubbed me the wrong way.
  • Some of the things that happened in this one had me questioning the accuracy of the characters or the police procedures. Not a huge problem if you’re not a stickler for accuracy, but worth a mention.
  • Repetitive. Concepts, phrases, and words are all repeated. This makes the book seem slower and longer than it needs to be.

What I Did Like:

  • The case itself is interesting. You are invested in this guy figuring out what happened and in finding the kidnapped individuals.
  • This is obviously a set up for a series and I can see potential here. There’s a reason for us to be invested in these characters and I could see following them for another story or two.

Who Should Read This One:

  • This might be a good starter detective book for anyone who isn’t already a reader of the genre. It’s easy to read and character driven.

My Rating: 2 Stars

  • Police mysteries are hard to break into and write something original. Fans of the genre are looking for something unique and accurate, so the fact that this misses those marks is problematic.
