A Mystery/Thriller, Independently Published in 2018, 385 Pages 

What I Didn’t Like:

• Content warning: kidnapping, pedophilia, mentions of rape and child molestation, suicide 
• Some of the unanswered questions were left unanswered a little too long, bordering on frustrating instead of just things that intrigue the reader. 
• It always bothers me when authors say some average person found something “on the dark web” as if it’s that easy. It immediately makes me roll my eyes. 

What I Did Like:

• The series of dangerous events builds slowly, which works for this story. You find yourself sucked into the story at first, but not afraid. By the time you’re worried, you’re too deep, much like the main character. 
• Loved the little exchange about the raw truth of buying a gun for protection. Too many times books try to pretend it’s simple to obtain and this book took a beat to point out the reality. 
• The main character is great. She’s driven, realistic, and relatable. Even when she’s dealing with some terrible things, like she is in this one, it’s still possible to understand her side of things and how she’s acting. 

Who Should Read This One:

• Fans of fast thrillers who don’t have any triggers they need to avoid and who like to be surprised by a book.
