2025 Book Review: Night of the Living Toilet Paper

by Kevin Garone

MG Science Fiction, 2025 by Temor Press, 192 Pages

What I Didn’t Like:

  • There are a few questions I have, as an adult Scifi reader, that are never addressed to my satisfaction. That being said, this isn’t a book for adults so there’s some grace you can offer here.
  • The banter between the friends felt like it lost something this time around, but that’s only when compared to book 1 and likely only because book 1 set such a high bar.
  • Again, the adults in this one are really questionable. That’s normal in middle grade books but this time it included the police and that bugged me.

What I Did Like:

  • The title, while still a bit silly, actually worked this time for the story. It doesn’t really affect my rating but I figured I better mention it since I mentioned it as a negative for book 1.
  • The characters are still wonderful. They’re all realistic but different. They don’t read like cookie cutter characters. I even adored the addition of Pyro, who added a sort of comedic element to this one.
  • Again the events of the book are satisfyingly intriguing and exciting. There’s a lot here that will please even an experienced Scifi reader.
  • Silly in a good way (as the title implies). This gives you some chuckles but it doesn’t take away from the serious events of the story.

Who Should Read This One:

  • Middle grade readers who like good characters, funny storylines, and a little action!

My Rating: 4 Stars

  • Of course, start with I Know What UFO Did Last Summer for maximum enjoyment!
