What I Didn’t Like:
- The opening proposal gets tossed out way too quickly. You have to sort of gloss past it and just accept it to get to the meat of the story, but it feels so weird to do that! It could’ve been a little longer, it could’ve lingered a little.
- We could’ve spent a bit more time on some of the scenes that felt rushed, like the scene with her father and the new maid. This is a powerful scene for our MC and it’s over too quickly.
- I definitely wanted more from this story in general. The story has a great premise and wonderful characters but it just wasn’t explored enough.
What I Did Like:
- The opening voice is captivating right away. It has a sort of aristocratic air to it that works for the character.
- The first instance of the swap is very well written. A little humor but overall the characters give off the vibe of thinking this is mildly serious but also impossible, which is perfect but hard to capture!
- The couple here has such chemistry right from the start. Given that their first meeting was a proposal, I didn’t expect that. But they complement each other well and really work.
Who Should Read This One:
- Fans of that arranged marriage but fell in love type book may really like this one.
- This book does have Beauty and the Beast vibes, which is fun!
My Rating: 3 Stars
- Fleshed out to be a full novel, this would’ve rated higher.
