2025 Book Review: The Devil’s Descendants; Wrath

by Amylynn Bright

A Fantasy, 2023 by Tentacle Publishing, 436 Pages

What I Didn’t Like:

  • I didn’t find the POV chapters to be equally compelling. I enjoyed Luke’s chapters, for instance, more than Mia’s. Also, I enjoyed the Heaven interludes equally as much (if not more than) the other parts of the story. Not really a problem, just worth noting. If you don’t like one POV there might be another you like!
  • The back half of the book has a few typographical errors that must have been missed in editing. Nothing major that I couldn’t figure out.
  • Some of the most interesting characters were not explored in this one. There’s hope some of them will be explored more (or even the focus of) future books though!

What I Did Like:

  • The opening chapter is so compelling! I knew right away that I was going to love the mythology parts of this one.
  • The relationship between the 7 cousins is well written even without getting a lot of page time. They’re a constant presence in each other’s lives and you can tell that in almost every second of time in Luke’s brain. That was very well done!
  • The romance is adorable. It makes sense yet it’s believable and the talk of fate works without being overdone.

Who Should Read This One:

  • Fans of mythological based stories who want an interesting take on the seven deadly sins.
  • Romance fans this one features the sunshine/grumpy trope in a way that works and has a little spice.

My Rating: 5 Stars

  • Good balance of mythology and romance for a satisfying story.
