2025 Book Review: Everyone Dies Alone

by Tam Chronin

A Fantasy, Independently Published in 2019, 204 Pages

What I Didn’t Like:

  • Content Warning: there’s talk of sex and one specific scene that uses sexual explicit words. If not for that, this could easily be a YA book.
  • Some tightening of language could speed up a few slow scenes. Nothing ruined the book so this is a minor tweak.
  • More time in the actual magic would be cool. That being said, I have a feeling it’s where book 2 is going so I can be patient!

What I Did Like:

  • Solid example of an In Medias Res opening that works. There’s things you don’t inherently understand, but they’re good things to wonder about. They suck you into the world and the story MORE by making you wonder. Excellent opening chapter.
  • Necromancy is one of my favorite things to explore in fantasy and this series has the potential to PACK that in as we are starting here with a baby necromancer. The world is set up well and we’re ready to go!
  • The use of the demon is well done. From the legend to the hints of what may be to come, he’s scary and well written.

Who Should Read This One:

  • Fans of urban fantasy will love this one!

My Rating: 4 Stars
