What I Didn’t Like:
- Not that I expected it to but this book doesn’t stand alone. It’s definitely the third in a series and it plays off the idea that you’ve read the rest. Not really a negative but call it a content warning.
- Speaking of content warnings (also not a negative, we love a good one) here is that list from the book so you can protect yourself.

- I wanted this to be wrapped up in this book so I was pretty sad when it ended and I didn’t have some answers. But then I checked and THERE’S A FOURTH BOOK! Ordered.
What I Did Like:
- I LOVE a good content warning. This one let me know what I was in for without spoiling anything and even, in one case, made me so curious I wanted to start reading at ONCE.
- I just LOVE Jack’s voice. I’ve loved it in every book because she narrates the story like a funny friend would. In this book, it comes in fast and I felt right at home among the characters again. Really, this is such a great cast! They’re all back with a few additional people thrown into the mix just to keep things interesting.
- Perfect sequel. By that I mean it builds on what you know of the previous books, honoring that past without repeating it all. You also get some reminders about what happened, in case it’s been awhile since you read it. But, overall, this one adds to the plot in a satisfying way.
- This book toyed with my emotions in the BEST way. I yelled “I knew it” out loud more than once. Love that!
Who Should Read This One:
- If you like amazing characters, interesting twists on lore (vampire in this case), and strong urban fantasy that does a good job of keeping its world building consistent, you need this series. Start with May Day to get the most out of it!
- Also, mystery thriller fans who normally gravitate to loose cannon detective novels, go in open minded and give it a try. The Seekers are essentially vampire detectives. There’s lab tech characters, procedures, and all kinds of well-written case-solving stuff.
My Rating: 5 Stars
- This series is SO GOOD!
