A Mystery/Thriller, 2023 by Mariner Books, 320 Pages
What I Didn’t Like:
- Some of the clue drops or asides from the narrator come off as a little too much, but that’s pretty rare.
- There are a lot of characters, a lot of suspects, and a lot to keep track of. The narrator will, of course, jump in to help you, but it is easy to forget who is being talked about.
- There is an unbelievable twist dropped in at least once that may make readers roll their eyes in disbelief.
What I Did Like:
- Same easy-to-relate to voice from the narrator. It’s effortlessly funny and comes off exactly as it was intended, as if someone was telling you the story.
- The little quirks of the writers were funny and definitely landed as intended. You have all sorts represented here and it was fun to watch them all interact.
- The ending works in the way you expect it to after the first book. Everything comes together, everything is spelled out easily and carefully, and it’s all related back to even the tiny clues dropped throughout the entire book.
Who Should Read This One:
- Fans of the first book, obviously. This one has the same sort of meta humor as the first.
- Fans of cozy mysteries where someone spells everything out before the last page.
