2026 Book Review: The Kuffar Project

by Lee Burvine

A Mystery/Thriller, 2016 by Bird House Books, 366 Pages

What I Didn’t Like:

  • There are some grammatical or typographical errors in this one. Not a lot and you can always figure out what they mean, but they’re there. There’s also some strange formatting with the ebook. Again, it can be ignored.
  • The story has a lot of elements that are not unique. This makes it a bit more predictable and dry than I would’ve liked.
  • I didn’t feel a strong connection to any of the characters. They could’ve been swapped for other people and the story would suffer. I would’ve liked to get more of a connection.

What I Did Like:

  • There’s some science left in the science fiction here, which I always appreciate. It’s presented in a way that’s easy to understand and not at all dry, which is nice.
  • Some elements reminded me of the DaVinci Code, but with the Quran, in a good way! A little mystery, a few elements of examination … fun!
  • The ending works. You get some answers but lots of things are left to linger in your mind.

Who Should Read This One:

  • Science fiction fans who want a little religious discussion, some consideration of consequences of science advances, and action.

My Rating: 3 Stars
