What I Didn’t Like:

• Lots of questions still exist about Magic and witches in this world. This could easily be a series and I’d read more. While our main character’s Magic is well explained, it’s implied that it’s different for everyone and I’d welcome seeing more of it.
• The ending felt rushed and too convenient. Not the final chapter, that was perfect, but the one before that. 

What I Did Like:

• The characters are amazing. This little group of found family members are delightful. They’re imperfect, but they’re realistic and I adored them. 
• The magic as our main character uses it is well explained. I loved the concept of magic appearing like threads that she can see and manipulate. I love that our main character doesn’t need to do complex spells but almost intuits the magic. Her use of magic is beautifully written. 
• The romance is very well done. Believable, adorable, and fun. It adds an element that the story needed to tie into a main theme and didn’t at all feel unnecessary. 
• The voice is perfect. You connect well with the main character and the banter between characters is well written. Just a wonderful example of a modern voice. 

Who Should Read This One:

• Magic fans. This introduces a concept of Magic that is unique but also wonderful. It satisfies, for sure.
• Contemporary fiction fans. This story features a found family at its center that will capture your whole heart. They’re imperfect and broken but you’ll love them.
