What I Didn’t Like:
- Dialogue is stilted and unnatural. This makes it hard to connect to characters or to stay focused on the story.
- Repetition. Ideas, names, phrases, and words are all repeated. It’s likely done to make sure the reader doesn’t miss anything but, instead, it makes the reader lose interest quickly because you’ve already heard this.
- Grammatical errors. Sometimes a name is typed wrong, some instances of words or entire sentences being repeated seemingly by accident. These errors do distract and pull you from the book.
What I Did Like:
- Fight scenes are descriptive. They give detailed steps that make it easy to picture.
- There’s a theme here of unity and teamwork that I liked.
- The characters feel like they should: real people who became bigger and more important during a war. It makes them a bit more relatable.
- The cover art is beautiful! This doesn’t affect our rating, but it’s worth mentioning.
Who Should Read This One:
- If you like big themes, big casts, and aren’t overly sensitive to repetition or grammatical errors this might be one you’d like.
My Rating: 2 Stars
- Unfortunately, the poor editing and errors that distracted us as readers have to be taken into consideration and make this one problematic.
