2026 Book Review: Tell Me You Trust Me

by Elle Owens

A Mystery/Thriller, 2025 by Thomas & Mercer, 297 Pages

What I Didn’t Like:

  • Some grammatical errors. Not typos. More unusual or unconventional word choices in some sentences. It didn’t ruin anything but did cause me to sort of stumble a few times.
  • Some attempts at making the struggle realistic land as overly complicated. Marissa doesn’t react well to stress, obviously, and that comes through.
  • I wanted more from the “villains” in the reveal. What was their motive? When did it get so out of hand? Why did it never stop?

What I Did Like:

  • The opening of this one hooked me FAST. The entire premise is introduced in one short chapter and you already know you’re going to have to keep reading to figure out what’s going on.
  • The song clues were great! I mean, in general, the clues were great (I love puzzles) but the song titles were my favorite. I could easily see communicating with someone exclusively through song titles and I loved their choices.
  • Overall, the mystery was solid. I liked the way things unraveled and enjoyed following the threads. I didn’t fall for the same red herrings as Marissa, but the ride was still enjoyable.

Who Should Read This One:

  • Mystery/thriller fans who like danger and puzzles.

My Rating: 4 Stars
