2026 Book Review: Dark Days

by Josie Jaffrey

A Paranormal, 2026 by Silver Sun Books, 384 Pages

What I Didn’t Like:

  • I really hate the Primus. I know you’re supposed to so I can’t really fault the author for this one. But continuing to have him in the books (especially since he keeps playing larger roles) is a bummer. I’m done with him.
  • This dances on the love triangle ground in a way I didn’t like. This series played with that earlier in a way I DID like so I really didn’t want it to dive into that territory.
  • Look, Jack, you’ve made poor choices in all of these books. You’re reckless and chaotic, it’s your thing. But this book brings your worst decision yet. I spent so much of the book mad at you.

What I Did Like:

  • Killian Drake fully, openly in love is my new favorite character. He still reminds you all the time how dangerous and feral he can be but this tame totally in love version of him is so fun.
  • Walking into this insane situation with Jack is so difficult but that’s because it’s well written. You’re as conflicted as she is, you’re as heart broken as she is, and you get her desperation. It’s hard to read, sure, but you can’t argue that the emotion of it is well written.
  • That ending – OMG. No spoilers but things you wanted and things you didn’t crash together into one dangerous ending has me so grateful there’s supposed to be a sixth book. I’m gonna need that book.

Who Should Read This One:

  • Fans of paranormal stories will still adore this series. Start with May Day in order to get the full picture. The vampires in this one are well written and you’ll appreciate the lore.
  • I will still argue that fans of dark thrillers will appreciate this as well. Jack Valentine starts book 1 as a seeker, basically a vampire detective. That is well written. The series continues to bring in thrilling elements and mystery elements that will please other readers.

My Rating: 5 Stars

  • This series continues to have broad appeal with the way it writes vampire lore, romance, and thrilling aspects into one series with characters you’ll adore.
