What I Didn’t Like:
- Probably because of the POV the author picked, you have some questions that go unanswered related to Zoey’s medical condition. This makes sense since this isn’t Zoey’s story nor is it her primary caregivers story, but you still wonder.
- The title sort of gave away one piece. Heartbreak … and you are talking about the boyfriend you love? This isn’t gonna go well.
- Predictable. It’s a YA novel so you expect the ending to be perfect and tied with a bow and you get that. It’s just neater and cleaner than real life at the end.
What I Did Like:
- Taking the trope of a sick teenager having a fun summer and spinning the POV to the sibling instead makes this less like other stories you’ve heard. I like different so I loved that!
- The friend group is great! You want these girls to have a tribe to support them and they clearly have that.
- The sisters are well written. Sisters are unique in their relationships and this captures it well. You do dumb things to make a sister laugh and you hurt when they hurt. It’s realistic.

- Fans of powerful stories about sisters bonding and medical issues.
