2026 Book Review: The Unhoneymooners

by Christina Lauren

A Romance, 2019 by Gallery Books, 432 Pages

What I Didn’t Like:

  • Content warning: adultery.
  • Predictable and formulaic in the way you’d expect a romcom like this to be.
  • The lucky vs unlucky sibling thing is exaggerated and played up a lot in the opening of this book. It normalizes a bit as the story goes on though.

What I Did Like:

  • Great characters. Olive and Ethan are well written and believable. They feel like they could be real, which helps.
  • Believable (light) enemies to lovers. That’s hard to do because pulling off enemies requires someone to be inherently wrong and that can, often, hurt the romance. This makes it work.
  • Excellent ending. Dealing with Ami’s stuff in a realistic way worked for the story and added another layer to the last act break up.

Who Should Read This One:

  • Romcom fans, you can’t really go wrong with Christina Lauren. Funny, realistic, and adorable every time.

My Rating: 4 Stars
