What I Didn’t Like:
- The opening is abrupt in a way that makes you feel like you almost missed something. That makes sense as you progress, but it’s a weird vibe.
- There are parts of this story that are about a single person living alone. That makes for dry prose as you lack dialogue. This struggles from that.
- No answers. That makes sense for the story but for the reader it can be frustrating.
What I Did Like:
- The concept itself is easy enough to grasp but the root of this one, the major inciting incident that must have happened to kick it off, is the mystery that compels you forward.
- The details of surviving are well thought out and well presented. Everything has a reason and makes logical sense. It’s a fascinating way to look at survival and definitely a unique perspective.
- This book is about who you would be without society, stripped down to your barest soul. It’s a brilliant concept and well done speculative look at human existence.
Who Should Read This One:
- Speculative fiction fans. This one is well done.
- Book clubs with adventurous readers and lively discussions, this one will spark good talks!
