What I Didn’t Like:
- Content Warning: adultery
- If you have to say the first time you met someone as a student you knew they were special, you shouldn’t be sleeping with them. It’s gross and an obvious power imbalance. It’s clearly evident that this is true for this couple through the entire opening and it made me want to scream.
- This woman was so frustrating! Can’t remember that YOU were the one to advise a client of a strategy and can’t help telling opposing counsel things. I hoped it had a point because she irritated me.
What I Did Like:
- Excellent opening. The definitions you may need are buried in the text in a way that lets you learn them without feeling stupid. The character is immediately intriguing and you are invested from the drop.
- There are beautifully timed releases of information in this one. Witness X, for example, seems to make reveals exactly when you’re wondering about something. It’s just beautifully timed.
- I love a well written court room play-by-play and this book delivers on that! It’s intense and edge-of-your-seat through the entire trial!
Who Should Read This One:
- Readers who like a book that shows you something and then goes back to sort of explain how it was done.
- Readers who like crime dramas with twists.
