A Horror, 2022 by HarperVia, 236 Pages
What I Didn’t Like:
- The chapters cut out at intense moments and jump somewhere new. It can be frustrating to abandon what you were solving!
- Likely because of the translation some of the dialogue is a bit stilted and awkward.
- Calling it horror is a stretch. This is a mystery book with a puzzle to solve.
What I Did Like:
- The excitement of the puzzle of the pictures is fun every time. You are looking at the pictures right along with the characters and making connections. That was cool.
- The way the story put together all the pieces was great. It reads like short stories at first, but things are not as they seem.
- The whole book sort of had a logic puzzle feel, which I actually loved! Logic puzzles require the reader to put clues together and find a seemingly easy solution. This whole book reminded me of that.
Who Should Read This One:
- Mystery fans who want a bit more engagement in puzzle solving will like this format and the pictures!
My Rating: 3 Stars
- This is NOT horror — but the right mystery fan will enjoy it!
