A Fantasy, 2022 by William Morrow, 470 Pages
What I Didn’t Like:
- The revenge aspect of this one is heavy-handed. There are parts of it that come off as overdone or extreme.
- The fantasy aspect almost feels underdone. Where you are almost expecting a coven of witches who seek revenge, you get more of a group of women (more realistic but not necessarily what you were expecting).
- The beginning and middle of the story seem to drag just a little. It’s important for the story because it keeps it feeling realistic but it’s tough to read.
What I Did Like:
- The overall premise is timely and well done. Who doesn’t want a book about women exacting revenge on the worst types of men? It’s a completely valid crash out in book form.
- The actual connecting of the dots and solving the mystery was well done. You don’t question if they got it right because the pieces are well presented.
- The ending works. It’s believable in the most headline-ripping, disturbing way. But, unlike in real life, there’s a sense that justice was served.
Who Should Read This One:
- Fans of books with mystery elements and angry women exacting revenge.
