What I Didn’t Like:

  • The big twist was completely predictable. I picked up on a lot of the clues early on, which led me to think that’s what was happening. Then the rest of the clues were just confirmation. By the time it was revealed, I was actually hoping I was wrong.
  • The big reveal also happened, in my opinion, too early. A few chapters later there’s a moment that would’ve hit better if we hadn’t been clued in yet. For anyone who was still unsure, that moment would’ve been that goosebumps kind of reveal the author was likely going for.
  • The almost happily-ever-after ending of this one felt a bit far-fetched. I will say the epilogue was a better ending, in a lot of ways.

What I Did Like:

  • This book takes something you could never imagine doing, killing someone, and gives you a valid backstory for why someone may consider getting into this.
  • The details of the murders are well written. It can be difficult to walk that line of writing believable deaths while still believing that this person is capable of this murder and that they didn’t get caught. These fit that bill.
  • The ending does bring everything together really well. It ties up the loose ends and gives you a solid sense of closure.

Who Should Read This One:

  • Fans of dark books with questionable main characters. This book takes you on a journey with a murderer but the right reader will love that.
